This is very interesting, Ford has gained sales in September and GM has lost sales as compared to the previous month. In September Ford was only 2,743 units away from beating GM for most auto sales. Ford certainly gained a shit-ton of market share quickly. I don't really see how it's related to new-releases. Perhaps incentives?

That or fleet contracts/purchases.

My guess is a combination of fewer Malibus and Silverados being sold, combining with an uptick in Ford's mid-sized cars and full-sized trucks.

I think it has something to do with the fact that Ford is producing good looking, powerful cars and trucks that are better on gas. e.g. Fusion, drop dead gorgeous from any angle, ditto for Focus, especially the ST. F-150 with Eco-boost.

I must say I am rather disappointed with the new Chevy trucks, on paper they aren't a whole lot better than their Ford counter parts, which originate from a model year 4 years older. At the end of this year Ford's '15 will come out and you can bet it will beat the Chevy in almost every metric.

I fucking love ecoboost, I love all boost. Buying a car with boost makes so much sense to me. Still not enough power? Spend 600 bucks on a Livernois tune and the 3.5 V6 gains roughly 80 horsepower. There is effing way you get that much of a power gain reliably out of an N/A car, for that little amount of money.

You make a very good point. Turbo reliability has advanced so much in recent time, it just makes sense. Now, what is a Livernois tune. My first thought was a song you would hear on a street in Detroit.

It's an ECU upgrade that can be used on the 3.5 ecoboost in SHO's and F150's. It adds GOBS of power, something like ~80hp/80tq (maybe less on the F-150, as it has more torque stock). On an SHO it goes from 5.2-to-60 to <4-to-60. You read that right, what basically is a landbarge WITH A 0-60 UNDER 4 SECONDS.
If I were in the market for a truck this is the engine to have. Not satisfied with the power? $600 later and you have a MASSIVE power upgrade, from Livernois, with a proven reliability track record. There is no amount of bolt ons available on any other half ton to even come close to the power of a tuned EcoBoost. Especially for $600.
I've been dragging ass on getting my maintenance done, I want to do an oil change, install cold air and get fresh trans fluid before I install the tune on my SHO.
Livernois is the go-to tuner for this upgrade. I wouldn't be surprised if they have their hand in the 1.6 and 2.0's as well.

Ford actualy cut back on base fleet vehicles in recent times. However for some reason fleets are buying fully loaded models now. Go figure.
